Veolia Expands its Plastic Recycling Activities with Acquisition of Micronipol!

Veolia, the global leader in ecological transformation, is happy to announce the acquisition of Micronipol, a leading provider of recycled plastic based in Portugal. This strategic move strengthens Veolia's expertise and capabilities in the plastic recycling sector.

Founded in 2000 and located in Ourém, Micronipol specializes in providing high-quality recycled plastic for various industries, including agriculture, industrial & logistics and packaging. With a team of highly skilled professionals and state-of-the-art equipment, Micronipol has built a reputation for delivering different types of plastics, including polyethylene (PE) & polypropylene (PP).

Veolia commercializes recycled plastics all around the world, through its brand PlastiLoop by Veolia.  Miconipol’s expertise in recycling complements the PlastiLoop by Veolia existing recycled plastics offer. The acquisition will reinforce the position of Veolia to meet the growing demand for recycled polymers across multiple sectors.

We are thrilled to welcome Micronipol to the Veolia family! By becoming part of the Group, Micronipol will have access to greater resources and a broader network, enabling the company to expand its reach and contribute to the development of sustainable plastics recycling solutions, says Sven Saura, VP Recycling at Veolia.

The integration of Micronipol into Veolia's operations is expected to be smooth, with both companies sharing a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and environmental protection. Existing Micronipol customers can expect to receive the same high-quality services, with the added benefit of Veolia's expertise and its recycled plastic network, PlatiLoop.

The integration of Micronipol [into the global Plastiloop network] will allow us to put Portugal on the map of this network and thus accelerate the circular economy of plastics in our country, with benefits for the decarbonization of our industries, says José Melo Bandeira, CEO of Veolia Portugal.

The announcement of Micronipol’s integration into the Veolia Family was made official during the Plastic Recycling Show Europe, to which both companies participated this June.
